Use patent data to see who is leading and lagging on innovation.
SIA, Quant IP's Solution for Innovation Analytics, gives fundamental and thematic investors objective innovation metrics for any public or private company, peer group or technology theme.

Three questions the 10-K doesn't answer
A company's annual report describes its innovation in its own words. SIA measures it from the patent record, on the same basis for every company.
The question
The usual answer
✓ With SIA
1
Which technologies are gaining momentum?
Read about them after they make the news.
Spot the technology fields with the fastest innovation growth, years before the products reach the market.
2
Which companies are the most innovative in this industry?
Read the same lagging industry reports as everyone else.
Rank any industry by innovation output and quality, on demand.
3
How innovative is this company, really?
Take management's word for it, or the sell side's.
Set the press release against the filings. ParTec's press releases praised its innovation; SIA found four low-quality inventions in ten years.

Patent data is not only for deep tech
About 900,000 new software patents were filed in 2025, roughly 24% of all patent activity, and every sector apart from REITs shows meaningful patent activity. Volume alone can mislead, which is why SIA scores the quality of inventions as well as counting them.

Over the following five years, the most invention-intensive fifth grew revenue by a median of 29.2%, against 13.8% for the least intensive fifth. The gap opened in the first year and widened in every year after.
